Scholarship Process
Scholarships will be awarded to applicant(s) utilizing the following criteria:
- Student has financial need and has received no/few scholarship awards.
- Student has demonstrated work ethic through work history, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. (Applicants who have worked and saved to fund their education will get preference.)
- Student shows strong academic achievement.
- Student has been accepted to a university, college, technical school or trade school.
- Applicant’s statement of goals and aspirations
Scholarship applications will be accepted through May 15, 2026 and must include an official high school or college transcript. Checks will be made payable to the college, university, trade school, or graduate school.
Scholarship winners are determined by an independent (non-MFM) review committee. The scholarship can be renewed for up to three years after the initial scholarship if a 2.5 GPA is maintained and a Scholarship Renewal Form is submitted.

Hardship/Emergency Process
Hardship and emergency funds will be awarded based on the scope of the hardship/emergency and the applicant’s need. Application forms may be submitted by MFM Employees and MFM Agents. The completed application form and supporting documentation should be emailed to foundation@midwestfamily.com. Hardship/Emergency applications can be submitted anytime during the year.
Grants/Donations to Service Workers
The Boyd Midwest Family Private Foundation will consider donations to Service Workers (Veterans, Police, Fire Fighters, Emergency Technicians, etc.). Nominations for such donations can be submitted through the Foundation Service Worker Hardship Application Form (by all MFM Employees and MFM Agents).
Deserving Service Workers also may be identified by the Foundation's Board of Directors.

Scholarship Awardees
The Boyd Midwest Family Private Foundation is excited to announce scholarship selection results for the 2025-2026 school year, the fifth year we have awarded scholarships.
The Foundation received a total of 58 scholarship applications this year, 14 more than last year. Scholarship applications were from thirteen different states. There were 24 first-time applications, 13 renewal applications, and 21 President Club Policyholder applications.
Utilizing the Foundation's selection criteria, eight first-time candidates were selected.
We are very excited about their future, the impact they will make, and proud of the role the Boyd Midwest Private Foundation is playing to achieve their goals!
Scholarship winners and amounts were determined by a three-member selection committee of independent, non-MFM individuals.
